SmileyMobile

Batman has the Batmobile, Smiley has the SmileyMobile

Press Release:   The beta version of the updated SmileyMobile version 2.2 is being released to the beta testers this weekend.  After 10 months of rework, delays and excuses from outside suppliers and the final assembly team this much anticipated product is nearly finished.  (The original estimated time to complete this updated project was 6 weeks.)

The product developer's plan was to vastly upgrade the engine, making it essentially a Quaded SmileyMobile and to fix some bugs in the original version.   After an alpha release in December - testers found huge problems with the new SmileyMobile engine.  Specifically, one component in the new engine did not meet the specifications put forth by the developer, it was discovered that a supplier had sent the wrong version to the final assembly team.   After more delays the final assembly team has finished the updated quaded engine and is finalizing some other minor product bug fixes.

The new SmileyMobile engine version 2.2 is a reworked version of the original engine version.  To get the engine to a fulltime quad power level new subassemblies were purchased from outside sources.  While quad (4x) is used to describe the added power of the engine that is not truly the case.  In truth the new version has 2.5 times the power of the original - something the developer states as, "Well the term Quad is more of a marketing term.  The huge increase in power output of this version will make the public happy."

The developer goes on to describe the new quaded engine in detail, "The computer put in the SmileyMobile by its original developer made this upgrade a huge undertaking.   Everything being done in this upgrade had to keep the original computer system in mind, vastly increasing the level of expertise needed to perform this upgrade.  But in the end our original plan worked, we now have a 500 horsepower powerplant motivating the SmileyMobile."

"We added a streetable supercharger which required some very expensive internal components for this engine.  Since none of these components were available off the manufacturer's shelves we were delayed while they were created.  Then the outside vendor that further developed and modified the aftermarket heads took his dear sweet time.   We really had our work cut out keeping Smiley under control during this project too, he sure is a hothead.  Everything had to be developed with his driving technique (or lack thereof) in mind.  He is very rough on our products."

In the end it appears that the development team has a winning product.  Beta testing will help them get any lingering bugs out of the product and it will then be made available to the public.

Comments:

Mrs. Smiley, "It's his money, if he wants to throw it away on that thing that's his choice.  It's not like any of the Smiley family are starving . . . if you've seen Smiley you can see that."

Matt Smiley (17 years old), "When do I get my chance to take it out for a beta test drive?"

Smiley, "Mine! Mine! All Mine!"

Final Assembly Team, "Get it the hell out of here so Smiley leaves us alone! Geeze!"
